An elongated cushion sapphire is gripped by paired yellow gold claws at the corners, ringed by a close pavé halo and lifted over a split shank that carries a row of small diamonds down each half of the split. The opening starts just below the halo, so seen from above the head appears to sit between four separate lines of light.
Yellow gold shows only where it touches the stone, at the claws and in the basket beneath; the halo and the shank read white. That division keeps the blue warm at the center and the diamond work cool around it. Ring size 7 US, and the head covers a fair width of the finger.
