The sapphire here is an oval, held in four yellow gold claws and set low enough that the band appears to run straight into it. Down each shoulder a row of small round diamonds is bead set in white metal, level with the top of the shank, so the eye is walked along the finger and into the blue rather than jumped up to it.
Yellow gold behind a blue stone warms the color; read against the cooler diamond line, the sapphire looks a shade deeper again. The proportions stay slim for a stone approaching two carats, and the ring is sized 7 US.
