An elongated cushion cut blue sapphire of 3.10 carats fills the head, held at four corners by white gold prongs and left entirely open at the girdle so nothing crowds the color. The stone is noticeably longer than it is wide and it sits north to south along the finger, which stretches the look of the hand. Light moves across the crown in broad plates rather than small flashes, and the blue lightens toward the table and deepens at the corners.
The shank splits below the shoulders into two pave set rails that rejoin at the base of the head, with a solid block of pave carrying up on either side of the stone. That open split leaves a small window of skin on each side and keeps a 3.10 carat cushion from looking heavy. Diamond weight across the shank totals 0.30 carats. Size 7 US, and the head is wide enough to sit finger to finger.
