The shoulders are the story on this ring. Two pave set panels of small diamonds begin narrow at the band and widen as they climb toward the oval sapphire, so the eye is carried up into the stone instead of stopping short of it. Yellow gold prongs take the oval at four points and echo the warm tone of the shank.
Because the pave sits in bright white metal against 18K yellow gold, a thin line of light runs along either side of the blue. At three carats overall the head carries real presence for its size. Size 7 US.
