One oval blue sapphire carries this ring, set high in four prongs and large enough that its color does all the work. The blue is vivid and medium dark, and the long axis of the oval runs across the finger so the stone reads wider than it is tall. Around it a halo of small round diamonds is set in individual collets, which gives the outline a scalloped, petal edge rather than a smooth ring of white.
Below the halo the 18K white gold is left completely plain: a tapered shank that widens slightly into the shoulders and then stops, with no accent stones and no detailing to compete.
