The sapphire is a big oval, 4.30 carats of dense navy blue, wide enough across the top to sit from one edge of the finger to the other. What makes the setting worth a second look is the halo: the diamond ring stands apart from the stone with a visible gap of open metal between them, so the sapphire appears to float inside its frame rather than lock into it.
0.38 carats of round diamonds do the work of that halo and then continue down the split shoulders in fine lines that rejoin beneath the finger. The mount is 14K white gold and the cool metal holds a hard edge against a stone this dark, keeping the outline of the oval readable at a distance. 4.68 carats in total, size 7 US, custom sizing available on request.
