Dozens of small round stones are set into a domed cluster that covers the finger from edge to edge, laid out as a pinwheel. Blue sapphires sweep outward in curved arms from a tight rosette at the middle, and white topaz fills the wedge shaped gaps between them. Every stone is individually prong set, so the silver becomes part of the pattern rather than a backing for it, drawing bright lines between the blue and the colorless.
The sapphires range from deep navy to a lighter, grayer blue, so the face shifts as the hand moves rather than reading as one flat color. Spreading 1.02 carats of sapphire and 0.66 of white topaz across this many stones buys width instead of depth: the pattern carries the ring, not any single stone. Sterling silver, size 6, and it stands well up off the finger the way a cocktail ring should.
