Round brilliant sapphires in plain four prong white gold baskets, one at each ear, with the metal kept to the claws so almost the entire face of the earring is stone. The blue reads very dark, holding near black through the middle and lifting only where the crown facets catch light directly.
Set in white metal rather than yellow, the stones stay cold, and the contrast becomes one of light against dark rather than warm against cool. 5 x 5 mm apiece, 1.28 carats for the pair.
