A round brilliant blue sapphire at each ear, held in four yellow gold prongs and nothing else. The blue is very dark, near navy at the table and closing toward black through the pavilion, and the brilliant cut returns light in small hard points across that darkness rather than lifting the overall tone.
Warm gold at the four claws is the only relief from it, and at 5 x 5 mm apiece the earrings sit flat and compact against the lobe. 1.28 carats for the pair.
