The sapphires are pear cut and hang free, each held at three points by slim white gold claws with nothing else touching the stone. All twenty four diamonds sit above, pave set into a small pear shaped plaque at the lobe, so the pair reads as two distinct shapes: a bright point of white, then a deep blue drop beneath it.
Blue this dark gains from the gap. Light passes around the sapphire rather than being crowded by a frame, and at eighteen millimeters the drop swings clear of the jaw. White gold throughout keeps the contrast strictly between white and blue.
