Each butterfly is built from four blue topaz, two long pear cuts opened out as the upper wings and two shorter ones tucked beneath as the lower pair, all claw set so the pale blue reads straight through from the front. Fine white metal beading outlines every wing and runs down the body between them, and two thin antennae curl up off the head to finish the figure.
At 30 by 11 millimeters the butterfly hangs clear below a hinged leverback and swings on its own. Sterling silver keeps the outline cool against the blue, and the figure is big enough to be recognized as a butterfly across a room rather than reading as an abstract cluster.
