The lower panel of each earring opens into a fan, broad at the hem and drawn to a point where it meets the teardrop above. Black spinel pave covers that whole frame, the outer rim and every internal rib, so the metal reads dark from top to bottom instead of merely outlined. The blue topaz are ovals, twenty across the pair, one riding in each teardrop top and the rest set in stepped arcs that follow the curve of the fan.
Pale sky blue against black tracery is the entire idea. Fifty six millimeters of fall in rhodium plated silver, twelve carats between the two.
