Each earring comes in two parts: a small teardrop at the top, outlined in black spinel around a single oval blue topaz, and beneath it a large open oval frame. The topazes inside that frame are spaced down the length of the drop in pairs rather than massed together, and the spinel pave traces both the outer rim and the curved inner ribs, so pale blue keeps showing through the gaps in the metal.
Twenty blue topaz across the pair against 244 spinels holding every outline. Dark tracery over sky blue is the whole effect, worked in rhodium plated silver at just under fourteen carats for the two.
