A single oval blue topaz is claw set at the top of each drop, its table cut in a fine checkerboard that breaks the light into small squares. Below it the sterling silver opens into a pierced oval of scrollwork, curls and heart shapes cut clean through the panel so the frame stays airy rather than solid behind the stone.
The oval swings free from a shepherd hook and turns easily, reading as an open silhouette one moment and a filled disc the next. At 5.35 carats a side the topaz is the only color in the piece, a cool blue held against bright white metal.
