The stone here is cut as a five sided shield and weighs 7.58 carats. It is set into an open sterling silver cage: a geometric frame of straight bars that meet at angles around the topaz and pick up its five sided form rather than softening it into a circle. Nothing curves.
At 31 by 20 mm the pendant is compact for the carat weight because so little metal surrounds the stone, and the open bars let light through from behind so the blue stays lit instead of going flat against a solid backing.
