A cushion cut blue topaz holds the middle of this pendant, pale and clear, and it is ringed not by one row of black spinel but by two. The double halo does something specific to the color: the dark border pulls the blue forward and sharpens every edge of the topaz against it, so the stone reads brighter than its own tone.
Above the halo the bail is left plain and polished, a deliberate break from all that texture. Set in sterling silver at 35 by 19 millimeters, the pendant hangs as a compact vertical drop that reads dark from across a room, with the blue center resolving only as you come closer.
