A round blue topaz of 1.04 carats is held between two flat polished ends of the band with no claws across the top of the stone, a tension style setting that leaves the crown entirely clear. Light enters from the sides as well as from above, which is the reason to set a transparent gem this way.
The sterling silver band is wide and squared where it meets the stone, narrowing behind the finger. Nothing else is set into it. Ring size 8 US.
