The middle of this ring is not the kyanite but a round coral cabochon, pale pink with soft cloudy markings, ringed close by a halo of small round diamonds. Eight emerald cut kyanites radiate out from that halo like petals, each bar set on its own point of the compass, their violet blue reading cool against the pink.
Between the petals the gallery is pierced with teardrop openings outlined in further diamonds, which gives the scalloped outer edge a lace quality and keeps a face this wide from reading as solid metal. Close to ten carats of stone in sterling silver, it stands well up off the hand and wears as a full cocktail ring at a size 7.25.
