The top of this ring is a flat rectangular plate split into two pavé panels by a polished bar of silver. Twenty-one black diamonds fill the upper field in tight rows, twenty-one white diamonds fill the lower one, and the two sides carry the same 0.32 carat weight. Set that way the contrast is architectural rather than scattered: two blocks of color meeting along a bright line, with squared polished shoulders carrying the plate down into the shank.
Rhodium plating keeps the frame white, which works on both halves at once. The black stones sink against it and the white ones catch and release light along the lower edge. On the hand it is a flat topped, broad shouldered ring, closer to a signet in silhouette than to anything domed. Ring size 8.
