The opal is an oval cabochon, domed rather than faceted, and it takes up most of the face of this ring. A smooth white gold bezel closes around its full outline, and because a cabochon returns light as broad soft washes instead of hard sparks, the play of color moves across the whole dome at once: pink, green, blue and pale yellow drifting as the hand turns.
Twenty-eight round diamonds ring that bezel in a single scalloped halo, each stone sitting in its own lobe with shared prongs between, so the outer edge of the ring is a row of small curves rather than a smooth line. The shank is plain and tapers cleanly into the shoulders, which leaves the wide oval face standing on its own. Size 7 US.
