A round opal cabochon holds the center, and six pear cut turquoise cabochons radiate out from it with their points outward, making a six petal flower that fills the entire top of the ring. Pave diamonds run along every edge of the frame, following the petals in and out, so the outline is scalloped rather than round.
The opal is the smallest stone in the arrangement and the one that moves: it throws green and pink across a pale body while the turquoise stays flat and opaque around it. That contrast between a live stone at the middle and six still ones around it is the whole idea of the piece. It sits high and wide on the finger at size 7 US.
