Each butterfly is built from four garnets rather than one: two marquise cut stones angled upward for the forewings and two pear cut stones set below for the hindwings, all prong held and all the same deep brick red. A beaded rim of white metal outlines every wing, and two curled antennae rise open above the body so the figure reads clearly from across a room.
Eight garnets in total across the pair, 2.58 carats between them, at 30 by 11 millimeters on lever backs that hold the shape upright at the ear.
