A deep red garnet of 2.48 carats sits at the centre with a checkerboard cut crown, the crossing facets breaking the surface into small squares that hold the colour dark. Radiating out from it are marquise cut citrines totalling 2.98 carats, set point outward in a full sunburst, so the outline of the ring is a ring of golden petals rather than a circle.
The two stones are close in weight but not in effect. The garnet is dense and nearly black at the centre while the citrines are pale and warm at the edges, and the gradient between them is the reason the piece reads as a flower. Sterling silver, ring size 7 US.
