Scale is the first thing here: two green amethysts totaling 19.50 carats, each cut as a broad cushion and hung on the diagonal so it falls corner down like a kite. The crowns are worked in a checkerboard pattern, dozens of small squares across the top that break the pale green into a grid of light rather than a few wide flashes.
A slim 18K yellow gold plated frame is all that holds them, hinged to a gold leverback so each stone sits forward and swings. At 36 by 18 millimeters the drop is long, and that thin gold outline is the only warm note against the green.
