The center stone is a pear cut green amethyst of 4.25 carats, set point up and held in yellow gold claws that reach well over the girdle. Sixteen oval rhodolite garnets ring it in a raspberry that darkens toward wine at the shoulders, and because they follow the pear outline the cluster reads as a long navette rather than a circle.
14K yellow gold plated sterling silver carries both colors at once: warm against the cool green of the amethyst, close in tone to the red of the garnets. The face stands high and spans most of the finger at size 7, which is what this kind of cluster cocktail ring is built to do.
