Green amethyst of 3.18 carats, cut as a cushion with clipped corners, sits inside a halo of small white topaz that continues in two lines down each shoulder. Under the stone the mount opens into pierced scrollwork, so from the side the ring is more air than metal and the pale green is lit from beneath as well as above. That openwork is the reason a stone this wide does not feel heavy on a size 6 finger. Total weight with the topaz is 3.90 carats.
