Each earring starts with a quatrefoil at the lobe: one oval kyanite standing upright at its middle with four small round white topaz set into the lobes around it, which accounts for all eight topaz across the pair. From there a slender beaded bar drops to the chandelier proper, a kite shaped lattice of pointed arches carrying nine further kyanites in rows of one, two, three, two and one, narrowing to a single stone at the point.
Every edge of that lattice is finished in milgrain, an unbroken row of tiny beads worked in white metal, and it is the beading rather than any stone that gives the frame its glitter. The kyanites are ovals in a medium royal blue that darkens wherever the setting shades them. At 65 millimeters these are long earrings, and since the top motif, the bar and the chandelier are each separately jointed, the lattice swings clear of the lobe with any movement at all.
