An emerald cut London blue topaz hangs at the foot of each earring, steel blue and deep enough that the step cut facets register as bands of shadow inside the stone rather than as surface flash. A close diamond halo follows the octagonal frame around it, and a second run of diamonds carries up through the bail and along the curved hook above, so a thin white line traces the entire length of the earring.
The proportion is deliberately top heavy in outline and bottom heavy in mass: fine pave above, a broad rectangle of dark blue below. At 28 by 11 millimeters in rhodium plated silver they hang close to the lobe and read clearly from across a room.
