The marquise garnet is set north to south, its two points running up the finger, which stretches the head and makes the ring look longer than its carat weight suggests. A single row of small white rounds follows the pointed oval all the way around, drawn in tight against the girdle so the halo works as an outline rather than a second ring of stones.
Deep red, closer to wine than to scarlet, and the color holds right into the two points where a marquise usually goes pale. The shank is wide, plain and polished, stepping up at the shoulders to meet the halo without any stone work of its own.
