The head is a long navette, pointed at top and bottom and widest across the middle, filled edge to edge with marquise cut tanzanites laid in staggered rows. Because every stone is a marquise, the tips overlap and the field never settles into a grid; it reads as one continuous blue violet surface with silver claws breaking through it. The round white topaz sit nowhere among the tanzanites. They ring the outside one scallop at a time, giving the navette a bright toothed border and a clean outline against the finger.
The shank is plain and tapered, which leaves the cluster to carry the whole ring. On a size 6 the head runs lengthwise along the finger and reaches well past the joint, sitting high enough to catch light from the sides as well as the top.
