Five colors of diamond are pave set across this domed band in blocks, and the geometry is the point: a yellow diamond lozenge at the center, outlined in white, with chevrons of blue running out to one shoulder and champagne and red to the other. The 0.54 carats is spread across a great many stones, each one small enough that color registers as a field rather than as individual points. Dividing the surface into hard edged zones rather than blending them is what makes the piece read as graphic rather than merely busy.
