Two halos here, not one. A domed oval tourmaline cabochon in mottled brown and burgundy holds the middle, and a complete ring of round faceted pink tourmalines encircles it, every one of them bright and transparent where the cabochon is dark and clouded. Outside that runs a scalloped border of small round diamonds.
The contrast is what the design is for: the cabochon gives back one even sheet of light while the pink stones flash separately around it. In sterling silver, 5.72 carats across the face, it builds into a tall domed cluster that stands well above a size 7 band.
