Each stud is built as a flower. A round brilliant sapphire sits at the middle in four claws, and the surround alternates polished white gold petals with small clusters of round diamonds, so the outline comes out as broad lobes separated by bright points rather than a plain circle of pave.
That alternation is what makes the earrings read bigger than they measure. The sapphires are only 5.5 millimeters across and carry 1.70 carats for the pair, yet the petal and diamond surround takes each head out to 9 millimeters. The blue is even across the crown with a darker core where the pavilion gathers, and the 14K white gold holds everything around it neutral. They stand 4.5 millimeters off the ear on posts with friction backs.
