A straight bar of pavé diamonds lies against the lobe on each earring, and from its lower end a small jump ring carries an oval blue sapphire that hangs completely free. Four claws grip each sapphire at its widest points, so the ovals stay upright on their long axis and swing without twisting. That vertical run is the whole idea: a narrow strip of white light above, a solid block of blue beneath it.
The 14K yellow gold of the bar and the claws sits warm against the cool 1.88 carats of sapphire, and the 0.04 carats of diamond is just enough to define the bar without turning it into a second focal point. At 19 by 7 millimeters the pair reads long and slim from across a room, more line than mass.
