Each drop ends in a pear shaped cabochon of golden rutile quartz, polished smooth and domed so light travels through the stone rather than bouncing back off a table. Inside, fine golden needles lie in loose parallel sheaves, visible right through the honey colored body; because the surface carries no facets, the eye goes straight to them.
A close halo of small white topaz outlines each cabochon, and more topaz runs up a narrow bar and through a small open oval link above it, so the drop reads as three linked shapes falling to 34.5 millimeters. Rhodium plated sterling silver keeps every part of the setting cool and hands the warmth back to the quartz.
