Two white topaz motifs stack above each drop before any color arrives: a small pave crown at the post, then a larger fleur shape hung beneath it, both worked in fine round stones so the upper half of the earring is nothing but cool sparkle. Under them hangs a rounded trillion of golden rutile quartz, translucent and pale, threaded through with the fine golden needles the material is named for. Turned to the light those needles run in parallel sheaves and move across the face of the stone.
At 50 millimeters these are long earrings, and the articulation between the three sections lets the trillion swing independently of the topaz above it. Rhodium plated sterling silver keeps the setting quiet, which leaves the needles as the thing you actually look at.
