Each stud is round, not square: a domed pink opal cabochon at the middle with a full halo of small round white topaz set close around it, well over a dozen stones to each ear. The opal is opaque and even in tone, a soft chalky pink that gives back light as one broad sheen across the dome rather than as separate flashes, so the ring of topaz does all the glittering while the center stays quiet.
The 8 by 8 millimeter footprint holds the pair flat against the lobe with no drop at all. Sterling silver claws take the cabochon at four points around its edge, and the halo lifts it just clear of the frame so the pink sits proud of the metal.
