A round ruby hangs from each lever back in a four prong basket that leaves the girdle open on every side, so light reaches the stone from behind as well as from the front. The red is bright and leans pink across the face, and polished sterling silver around it keeps it there instead of pulling it toward orange.
There is nothing else to the design: wire, hinge, basket, stone. At 25 by 6 millimeters the drop is short and narrow, so the ruby swings just under the lobe as one clean point of color.
