Nine round stones to each earring, prong set and massed into a tapered lozenge: a single stone at the top, then a row of two, three across the widest point, two again, and one at the tip. The claws stand up between the stones, which keeps the group open and lets light in from the sides instead of sealing it behind metal.
The cluster hangs free from a shepherd hook so it swings just under the lobe. At 22 by 7 millimeters the whole earring stays compact for 3.10 carats, and the sterling silver behind the stones is kept narrow so the massing carries the design.
