Each earring is a marquise cut sapphire hung from a slim yellow gold lever back. The marquise is the entire design: no halo, no accent stones, a long pointed navette of blue held at the tips and the waist by four fine claws, so nearly the whole face of the stone stays visible from the front.
The stones hang from a small link and turn freely, and their pointed ends track the movement, so what you see at 26 by 5 millimeters is a narrow line of blue rather than a dot at the lobe. Yellow gold appears only in the hook and the claws.
