Four pear cut tanzanites build each butterfly, two for the upper wings and two for the lower, all of them prong set with their points turned in toward a polished silver body. The violet to blue shift runs across all four wings at once, so a small turn of the head changes the color of the whole shape rather than one facet of it.
Two fine silver antennae curl up from the body, each finished with a small bead. At 10 by 9 millimeters the pair sits flat and compact on the lobe, and spreading 0.92 carats across eight stones keeps every wing thin.
