The tanzanite is a cushion cut set corner up, so it reads as a diamond shape rather than a square, and the halo answers that with a scalloped four lobed frame of round diamonds that curls around each corner in a double curve. Four prongs grip the corners themselves and leave the flanks of the stone completely clear.
Color shifts inside the stone as it moves, blue from one angle and violet from another, while the 14K white gold holds both readings cool. At 20 by 14 millimeters, hung from a plain tapered bail, it sits as a compact drop at the base of the throat.
