A trillion cut tanzanite fills each stud, its triangular outline set point down with the corners gently rounded, and the faceting sends violet through the stone at one angle and blue at the next. A twisted rope border of white gold runs around the outside of each setting, so the edge reads as fine beading rather than a smooth bezel.
Twelve millimeters across is wide for a stud, and 4.22 carats between the two stones gives the pair some heft on the lobe. White gold keeps the surround cool, which lets the blue side of the color come forward.
