Four pear cut peridots make up each butterfly, two spread as upper wings and two smaller below, their points meeting at a slim silver body. A fine beaded outline follows the edge of every wing, and a pair of antennae curls up in openwork above, so the figure is drawn in metal and filled in with stone.
The green is the yellow leaning tone peridot holds steadily under most lighting. Each butterfly hangs from a leverback, 30 millimeters overall, and swings slightly as it moves so the upper and lower wings take the light in turn rather than all at once.
