A cushion cut pink amethyst hangs at the foot of this pendant, blush at the edges and gathering to a stronger pink through the middle where the pavilion facets cross. Four rounded prongs hold it corner to corner and the rest of the setting stays behind the stone, so it shows its full outline from the front and its depth from the side.
Directly above, seven small rhodolite garnets are massed into a crown, set in two staggered rows and reading a good deal deeper and more raspberry than the quartz below them. A wide fluted bail carries the drop on the cable chain. Rose gold plating holds every part of the piece in the same warm register, 27 by 12 millimeters on a 16 inch chain, which sets the pendant at the base of the throat.
