The heart is carried right through the frame. A halo of small white stones follows the outline exactly, dipping into the cleft at the top and closing to a point at the base, so the silhouette stays a heart instead of softening toward a circle. Four yellow gold prongs hold each pink topaz, and against a halo set in white metal they show as four small gold points at the corners of the stone.
The pink is vivid, a saturated hot pink rather than a pastel, and the bright surround pushes it further. Twelve by eleven millimeters and six deep, so each heart stands proud of the lobe and keeps its shape at conversational distance.
