The rubellite is cut square with trimmed corners and set into a close yellow gold bezel, which gives the stone a hard clean outline and lets the pink-red run edge to edge without prongs breaking it up. Above the bezel the tapered hook carries a short line of small diamonds along its front face, so there is a flicker of white light directly above the color. At 20 by 8 millimeters each earring hangs as a narrow vertical drop rather than sitting flat as a stud.
The gold picks up the warmth already in the rubellite and pushes it further toward red than a white metal mount would. The leverback style keeps the stone close under the lobe with just enough movement to catch light when the head turns.
