White metal changes what a ruby does. Held in 14K white gold claws, the red here loses the golden undertone a yellow setting lends it and sits colder, nearer crimson, with the boundaries between facets more sharply drawn against the bright rim of metal.
The pair carries 1.68 carats across two ovals measuring 8 by 6 millimeters each. Four claws grip the corners of every stone and nothing else touches the front, so the whole crown stays visible from any angle. The color runs deeper through the middle of each oval and lightens toward the girdle, which keeps them reading as stones rather than flat panels of red.
