Round halo studs, shown here worn. A round ruby holds the middle of each earring inside a closed ring of small diamonds, twenty one to a side, and the whole disc measures eight millimeters across. The halo does what a halo does, making the center stone read wider than its own girdle.
Yellow gold appears as a thin bright rim at the outside of the circle and in the claws under the ruby, which keeps the red warm rather than cooling it. From a few feet away each earring resolves to a single point of color inside a ring of light.
