Each earring is built in two parts. An elongated open loop sits at the top, a single round diamond flush in its upper curve, and from it hangs a pear shaped ruby held in a full white gold bezel. The two sections are hinged together so the drop swings slightly, and the point of the pear faces down, drawing the eye along the 15 millimeter length.
The bezel is the choice worth noticing. A continuous rim of 10K white gold traces the whole teardrop outline, giving the red a hard bright edge and letting the stone read larger and more graphic than claws would. The rubies carry 1.60 carats for the pair, the two diamonds add 0.04 carats above them, and at 7 millimeters wide the earrings stay narrow and vertical at the ear.
